Good words are something actors love. I have always liked finding quotes, thoughts and sayings and sharing them with people I thought might enjoy them. Each month I will share some words that have inspired me, given me understanding and helped me keep things in perspective when times were rocky.
The Trojan War was fought over shipping routes, and Helen only provided an excuse; every war has its Helen, although sometimes she is called
"Independence," or "Glory," or "Honor," or "Self-Defense."
---Sydney J. Harris
"If you get gloomy, just take an hour off and sit and think how much better this world is than hell. Of course, it won't cheer you up if you expect to go there."
---Don Marquis
When my daughter was small she got the dubious part of the Bethlehem star
in a Christmas play. After her first rehearsal she burst through the door with her costume, a five-pointed star lined in a shiny gold tinsel designed to drape over her like a sandwich board. "What exactly will you be doing in the play?" I asked her.
"I just stand there and shine," she told me. I've never forgotten that response.
